VietNamNet Bridge – The footballer transfer market is resounding from The Cong football club’s “shopping style”. But it is not known whether expensive contracts will bring about success for this club.

At present, no other V-League football team has made such strong moves to enhance its personnel. The Cong paid VND11 billion ($687,000) to buy two players of the national squad, Cong Vinh (VND8 billion - $500,000) and Xuan Hop (VND3 billion - $187,000).

VND11 is equivalent to the total spending of an average team in V-League, for example Song Lam Nghe An or Nam Dinh. Yet, The Cong continued “going shopping” by paying VND1.5 billion to get Van Hien from Hoa Phat Hanoi and it is about to pay VND3 billion to have Thanh Luong.

This club also aims to get Minh Duc from Song Lam Nghe An, who is said to be worth VND3 billion in transfer fees at least.

Hence, to have four players of the national squad, The Cong will have to pay a total of VND20 billion ($1.25 million). However, it is rumoured that The Cong is prepared to pay VND30 billion ($1.87 million) to recruit talents.

It is certain that The Cong will be the largest buyer of footballers this football season. Paying such a huge amount of money, the club is announcing ambitious targets.

However, before striving for the targets, the team must solve internal matters.

When it has newcomers, some will have to go. It is said that the appearance of Cong Vinh means that Phuong Nam and Quang Vinh will lose their positions. The arrival of Thanh Luong may lead to the departure of Bao Khanh. Meanwhile, either Phuoc Tu or Anh Tuan will have to go to give up his place to Xuan Hop.

There are additional economic considerations. New players who are not soldiers will enjoy high rates of pay, while the key players of The Cong, a football club of the Ministry of Defence, who are also soldiers, receive payments based on their positions in the army. It is has been whispered that this could be a source of conflict.
