Hoang Thien will play in the men’s final at the U18 International Tennis Federation Becamex Cup in southern Binh Duong Province.

Ta Quoc Bao and Tran Hoang Anh Khoa took the men’s doubles title at the U18 international Becamex Cup by beating Khundarpinitvon and Turaphatittha from Thailand in two straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

In the women’s and men’s cup singles in southern Binh Duong Province, Vietnam’s Lam Anh and Hoang Thien got through to the finals.

Anh defeated the third seed Thirumalaycha from Thailand 6-3, 7-5 in the semis to compete for the title with Thai player, Upapong, who beat Dai Trang of Vietnam in the other semifinal.

Thirteen-year-old Thien made another surprise by winning 2-1 against the top seed from Thailand, Khundarnpini.

Thien won the first set 6-2 and lost 7-6 in the second. In the deciding set, the thirteen-year-old came from two games down to beat the Thai 6-2.

It marked the fourth straight victory for Thien, who had defeated the seventh seed from Thailand on Thursday, the fourth seed from Japan and a tough opponent from the Republic of Korea in two previous matches.

Thien will play the third seed from Thailand, Turaphatittha, in the finals today.

In the women’s doubles final, Lam Anh and Ngoc Van had won the first set 7-6 against Dai Trang and Upapong from Thailand when Trang’s relatives started swearing at Anh and Van. Anh lost her temper and concentration then lost the next two sets.
