Lam who is the national top player won all judgers’ hearts to take the highest result in the men’s 65kg category over dozen of rivals from 43 Asian countries.

Lam was not the athlete who took the highest points from the qualifying round but his convincing performance in the final pushed him to the podium.

He was followed by Thailand’s Sumethowetchankun Somkhit and Kim Jin-sik of South Korea.

Ealier, his teammate Pham Van Mach pocketed a silver medal in the men’s 60kg category.

It was not a good result for the former world champion who won two gold medals at the Asian Men’s Body building Championship in Hong Kong in July.

He was defeated by a host athlete Asrelawandi Asrelawandi. In the third place was Daejit Singh of Singapore.

Vietnamese pencak silat martial artists on Sunday won two silver medals.

Nguyen Viet Anh performed well at the men’s single seni (performance) event to take the first silver for Viet Nam. The gold medal went to Arya Yudapandita of Indonesia. Later, duo Vu Thi Thao and Nguyen Thi Binh secured the second silver in the women’s seni pair event.

Viet Nam is competing in the Bali Beach Games with a contingent of 79 athletes and 16 officials, competing in nine sports.
