The draw raised hopes for Vietnam’s head-to-head with Thailand, who beat the DPRK 1-0 in the opener on October 28.

Vietnam has not tasted victory for eight matches under Portuguese coach Henrique Calisto.

The DPRK played do-or-die in the game with Vietnam, as they had suffered a loss to Thailand in the opening match.

The Koreans, who excel in fitness and skills, dominated the game from the first few minutes, sending long and high balls through the hard rain that fell on Hanoi on October 30.

In the last match of the tournament on November 1, Vietnam has to beat Thailand to take the trophy.

The T&T Cup has attracted teams from Thailand, the DPRK and Vietnam playing in a round-robin format with US$40,000 for the champions, US$20,000 for the runner-up and US$10,000 for the third.

At the HCM City International Football tournament-SJC Eximbank Cup last month, Vietnam lost three straight games to Myanmar, a student team from the Republic of Korea and Turkmenistan.
