Vietnamese tennis players may have some surprises up their sleeves for the U18 International Tennis Federation Becamex Cup, which has been underway in southern Binh Duong Province for the past two days.

Five Vietnamese women have advanced to the round of 16 in the women’s singles. All will face opponents from Thailand today.

However, Tam Hao and Ngoc Van have already bowed out of the tournament, which attracted more than 100 players from 15 countries and territories.

In the men’s singles, Vietnamese players Nguyen Hoang Thien, Ta Quoc Bao and Nguyen Huu Hieu have advanced to the next round.

In the women’s doubles, Thanh Binh and Dan Thi advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating the Japanese team.

Phi Khanh and Hoang Ngan also beat a doubles team from Japan, while Lam Anh and Ngoc Van had a hard time defeating a Thai doubles team 7-5, 7-5.

In the men’s doubles, Hoang Thien and Huu Vinh lost to a doubles team from Japan and the Philippines while Tuan Anh and Tuan Ngoc took a win over a pair from Thailand.
