VietNamNet Bridge – Coach Henrique Calisto Wednesday announced the list of 25 players of the national squad, who will play in the match against Thailand on November 16 and Singapore on November 26.

It is notable that the list does not include Brazilian-Vietnamese goalkeeper, Fabio Santos. After being nationalized as Vietnamese, Santos was expected to become a member of the national squad.

While he played well in matches against Indonesia and Olympic Brazil, his performance went down at the Ho Chi Minh City Cup. After that, the goalkeeper had to go to Long An Province to take care of his wife, who suffered fetal derangement.

Before Santos left, Coach Calisto warned him that if he did not return to the team before the T&T Cup, he would be rejected from the AFF Cup 2008. At this point, as the T&T Cup is coming to an end, Santos is still absent.

During his absence, goalkeeper Duong Hong Son proved his ability at the T&T Cup. Coach Calisto decided to keep Hong Son and two other reserved goalkeepers – Quang Huy and Duc Cuong, but not Santos.

Other than Santos, halfback Phung Van Nhien (Hoang Anh Gia Lai club) has also been eliminated.

The national squad will gather on November 7 in Hanoi to prepare for the match against Thailand, under the T&T Cup, on November 16. On November 24, they will go to Singapore to play a friendly match on November 26.

After that, the team will practice at the Ho Chi Minh City-based Thanh Long Sports Centre before participating in the AFF Cup (against Thailand, Malaysia and Laos on December 6, 8 and 10).
