VietNamNet Bridge – Halfbacks Chi Cong and Cong Minh of Binh Duong Club have been weeded out from the national squad. Coach Henrique Calisto will reject one more player to finalize the 22-member list for AFF Cup 2008.

Calisto said he decided to reject Chi Cong and Cong Minh several days ago, and he had planned to announce all three players who will be cut from the national squad on November 30. However, Binh Duong club asked the coach to allow the two above players to return to their club to attend the Binh Duong Television Cup, which will start today, November 28 so Calisto released an early announcement.

The coach said that from now until the national team goes to Thailand for the AFF Cup, if there is a change in the team’s halfback positions, he may recall Cong and Minh.

The national team currently has 23 players, one more than the ASEAN Football Federation’s (AFF) regulation. Calisto will reveal the name of the last player who will be ousted from the team on November 30.

The national squad is now practicing at the Thanh Long Sports Centre in HCM City.
