VietNamNet Bridge – Coach Mai Duc Chung will not work as assistant to Chief Coach Henrique Calisto at the national squad. Chung spoke out his idea at the celebration of the U22 team’s Merdeka Cup 2008 championship early this month.

At that time, Chung explained that he was so busy with his job at the General Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), where he is the chief of the football division. He wanted to withdraw from the post of assistant for the national squad.

Chung again confirmed his idea after he returned to Vietnam from the Myanmar Royal Cup. However, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training would make the decision, he added.

Tran Van Quynh, Chief of the Elite Sports Department, Chung’s director boss, confirmed “In case the Vietnam Football Federation invites Chung to work as assistant to Calisto, we don’t agree. The football division has many jobs to do at the year-end and we need Chung there”

Chung recently met with the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Danh Thai, and Thai agreed to Chung’s proposal of not working at the national team anymore.

Coach Calisto was very calm hearing this news.
