VietNamNet Bridge - The National Tennis Championships opened at the Sao Mai and Tay Ho Clubs in Hanoi on November 29.

The event has drawn 29 tennis players from Vinh Phuc, Da Nang, Becamex-Binh Duong, Tanimex-Ho Chi Minh City, Soc Trang, the army and the host, Hanoi.

Among the player are leading national stars, including Do Minh Quan and Ngo Quang Huy in the men’s singles, Nguyen Thuy Dung and Huynh Mai Huynh in the women’s singles, and the young player, Nguyen Hoang Thien, who is now ranked number one in Asia in the under 14 age group.

During the tournament, 14 players in the men’s singles will compete in the qualifying rounds for four places in the final rounds. They, together with eight other players who have been granted wildcards, will be divided into four groups to compete in the round-robin format to select 8 best players for the quarter-finals.

In the women’s singles, seven athletes will be divided into two groups and the four winners will enter the quarter-finals.

The men and women’s singles champions will be granted VND15 million and VND10 million, respectively.
