After drawing 2-2 at the end of full time, the two sides lined up for a penalty shoot-out.

Singapore won after Vietnamese defender Le Phuoc Tu missed his spot kick.

The first match between two teams at Ha Noi’s My Dinh National Stadium on October 14 ended with a goalless draw.

Singapore’s John Wilkinson opened the score in the 39th minute to help the visitors lead the game. But Viet Nam tied two minutes later when top striker Le Cong Vinh netted the ball from a spot kick.

After the break, Agu Casmir made it 2-1 in the 78th minute.

However, the Vietnamese captain scored in the last minute of the game to make the final score 2-2.

The friendly matches are part of Vietnamese and Singaporean preparations for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup to kick off in Thailand and Indonesia next month.

It’s the 10th game that Portuguese coach Henrique Calisto has not tasted victory.

Calisto will select the best squad of 22 players, who will play in the AFF Cup, to be announced in HCM City this week.

Viet Nam’s arch-rival Thailand have drawn Group B with Malaysia and Laos for the AFF Cup.

Singapore play Cambodia, Indonesia and Myanmar in Group A.
