VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam will send three representatives to the World 3-Cushion Cup to be held in Hurghada City, Egypt on November 16-22.

A list of 124 players to compete in the cup has been released, including world class players Dick Jasper of the Netherlands, Belgian Frederic Caudron, Torbjorn Blomdahl from Sweden, Daniel Sanchez of Spain and Roland Forthomme also from Belgium.

Thanh who is ranked 31st in the world will compete in Group I of the fourth qualifying round. Thanh will play against Thomas Andersen from Denmark and a winner from the third round. He will play from November 19.

Vinh, world Number 240, has to play from the second qualifier in group C together with Mohsen Fouda and a winner from the first round. Vinh will kick off his tournament on Sunday.

In qualification rounds three sets are played, but in the final round five sets will be played, with the winner walking away with 5,000 euros (US$6,400). The runner up will receive 3,000 euros, and the two third-placed players will get 1,800 euros.

Any player entering the final round will also get a cash bonus ranging from 600 to 1,250 euros.

The Egypt tournament is the final event in the six-round tournament organised by the World Billiards Union (UMB) annually.

Vu proved to be the best Vietnamese player this year as he got to round 16 in the fourth event held in South Korea last month, where he lost to the number three seed.

Although Vu failed to reach the final, he got 16 bonus points resulting in his UMB ranking of 16 and 88 points.

Being in the world top 20 means he will receive an invitation to play in all UMB competitions.
