VietNamNet Bridge – Members of the national football squad on Tuesday received a VND 600 million (over US $35,000) bonus from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for their entrance into the semi-final round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008.

Before the AFF Cup, the VFF’s Chairman Nguyen Trong Hy disclosed that the team would receive a bonus if it enters the semi-final round but he did not mention a specific figure. However, as the team did not play very well, the bonus is VND 600 million (VND 400 million for the winning match against Malaysia, and VND 200 million for the match against Laos). The VFF did not widely announce the bonus.

The bonus was divided by four levels, based on the contribution of each member to the team’s victory. The highest bonus was for key players, then the coaching board, the chief and vice chief, reserved players who played for sometime, and those who did not play.

So far, the team has had a total VND 1 billion of bonuses from the VFF, including the above VND 600 million, VND 400 million at T&T Cup 2008 and, US $20,000 for the second position at T&T Cup from the organizing board.
