Vietnam was held draw in the 2008 ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup semifinal first leg at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium last night.

They launched many attacks and created a couple of clear chances, with striker Viet Thang coming close to scoring twice in the first half. One of his shots hit the post but none of his attempts went into the net.

The first half ended without any goals and the Vietnamese footballers continued their attacks in the second half.

However, the fatigued Vietnamese team wasn’t as dangerous as in the first half.

The Singaporean players, who proved to be stronger than the home team, had two chances, with the ball going into Vietnam’s net once but the referee ruled it a foul.

The scoreless draw in Hanoi is an advantage for visitors before the two teams meet again in the second leg in Singapore next Sunday.
