VietNamNet Bridge – The HCM City-based Scavi Rocheteau football training centre has invited the former famous French midfielder, Zinadine Zidane, to come to HCM City.

A Scavi Rocheteau centre official named Henry said: “That is our plan to invite Zidane to Vietnam. But I don’t want to let you down if that plan fails. So I will not disclose anything about this plan.”

However, it is said that Zinadine Zidane agreed to come to Vietnam with some conditions: he will go to Vietnam with a 6-member entourage and $50,000 for charity.

However, the timing for Zidane’s Vietnam visit is still being discussed. If everything goes smoothly, he will go to Vietnam in 2009.

Zinedine Yazid Zidane was born on 23 June 1972 in Marseille, popularly nicknamed Zizou. He played professionally in France, Italy, and Spain, and was a member of the French national team. His career accomplishments include helping France win the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000, in addition to winning the 2002 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid.

One of only two three-time FIFA World Player of the Year winners (Ronaldo being the other), he was also named the European Footballer of the Year in 1998. He retired from professional football after the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
