After just two minutes, Gao Lin broke through Vietnamese defenders to net the ball, converting Hao Junming’s comer.

However, midfielder Nguyen Vu Phong tied for Viet Nam in the 11th minute as he trailed the crucial pass from Nguyen Viet Thang to beat Song Zhenyu.

China then regrouped their squad to launch a successful stormy offensive on Viet Nam.

In the 21st, Gao Lin broke through Viet Nam’s defence to beat keeper Duc Cuong with a far corner shot.

Six minutes later, keeper Cuong missed a corner kick to leave unmarked Du Wei a space to tap the ball into the back of net and help China lead 3-1.

Viet Nam coach Henrique Calisto substituted striker Nguyen Quang Hai to play counter-attacks on China, but the powerful hosts left no opening for Vietnamese strikers.

In the 37th, Jang Ning rocketed a long shot to beat goalie Duc Cuong and boost China to a 4-1 first half lead.

Two minutes into the second half, Hao Junmin converted his teammate’s cross to the net with an accurate shot at the far corner before Gao Ning made his hattrick in the 83rd minute.

The team face China, Syria and Lebanon in a two-leg round robin group D. The two top teams will qualify for the final in Qatar in 2011.
