VietNamNet Bridge – The UK newspaper Daily Mail on Monday said that the world famous football club Manchester United (MU) plans to take an Asian tour this year. The tour may start on July 16 and Vietnam is among the club’s destinations, besides Malaysia, South Korea and China.

However, neither representatives of AIG Vietnam nor the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), which are responsible for inviting MU to Vietnam, verified the information in the Daily Mail.

AIG Vietnam’s representative said the group’s sponsor contract with MU was still in effect but they had not been informed yet about MU’s visit to Vietnam in July 2009. BIDV’s representative said they didn’t have any connection to the above information from the Daily Mail.

In a press conference about the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the Vietnam Football Federation and Nike, Nike’s representative in Southeast Asia didn’t have a specific answer for the question if in the future Nike would arrange trips to Vietnam for famous football clubs that it sponsors or not.

Meanwhile, at a contract signing ceremony between Nike and the Thai Football Federation, Nike Thailand committed to bring world famous football squads that wear Nike jerseys to Thailand in the near future.
