VietNamNet Bridge - Two Thai football players of Hoang Anh Gia Lai club, Nirut and Sakda, were nationalized in Vietnam, disclosed the club’s Chairman Doan Nguyen Duc and Managing Director Huynh Mau on Thursday.

The club and the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Justice will organize a ceremony to grant the Vietnamese nationality to the two Thai players, who are named Doan Van Nirut and Doan Van Sakda.

Once Nirut and Sakda are recognized as Vietnamese, Hoang Anh Gia Lai will have the right to use up to five “foreign” players at once.

Besides Nirut and Sakda, the club currently has three other foreign players: Thonglao (Thailand), Agostinho (Brazil) and Lee Nguyen (Vietnamese American).

According to the new Law on Nationality of Vietnam, as of April 1, 2009, Lee Nguyen will have the right to have two nationalities, Vietnamese and American. At that time Hoang Anh Gia Lai can use up to six “foreign” players in a match.

With over 55% of players being foreigners, Hoang Anh Gia Lai will make a new record in Vietnamese football world.
