Vietnam jumps 7 grades on FIFA rankings

VietNamNet Bridge - With their recent outstanding performance, the national football team of Vietnam climbed up 17 steps up in the world rankings, announced the Federation of International Football Associations or FIFA on Wednesday.

The national squad and the AFF Cup.

Vietnam was placed 138th among 201 teams in the world rankings. Meanwhile, in the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) list, the national team stood at 19th out of 46 teams.

The new FIFA rankings do not reflect many dramatic changes. The European Champion, Spain, remained in first place in the Europe and the world, followed by Germany. The top 10 teams included the Netherlands, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, United Kingdom, Russia and Turkey.

The US held on to top position in the North - Central American and Caribbean ranking and ranked 22nd in the world. Australia and Cameroon led the rankings for the Asian and African continents, respectively.
