Thep Mien Nam-Cang Sai Gon (TMN-CSG) won the Kinh Do-Vinacapital Cup football competition yesterday and went home with a VND50 million (US$2,800) cash prize.

Thep Mien Nam-Cang Sai Gon, the champion of Kinh Do-Vinacapital Cup.

Dong Tam Long An (DTLA) came in second; third place went to V-League and Super Cup champions Becamex Binh Duong.

Even though Becamex Binh Duong defeated TMN-CSG whose nickname is ‘Port’ with a high score of 4-0 on the last day of the tournament yesterday, TMN-CSG still won the tournament with three victories against Hoang Anh Gia Lai, The Cong and Binh Duong clubs.

Alves Kesley scored two goals in the 13th and 19th minutes, and TMN-CSG’s John Wole scored against his own team in the 25th minute to help Binh Duong lead 3-0 in the first half.

Nguyen Duc Thien scored a goal with a cross from the right wing in the 78th minute of the second half to secure Becamex Binh Duong the win.

Yesterday, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) also overcame The Cong with a close 2-1 score.

Nguyen Ngoc Nguyen opened the score in the 49th minute from a shot in the right wing to the top corner of the net and Sakda Joemdee doubled the score in the 59th from a free kick.

DTLA beat HAGL, Becamex Binh Duong and The Cong, but ranked second because of losing the clash against TMN-CSG. The team received $1,700.

Becamex Binh Duong had two wins and a draw and pocketed VND20 million ($1,140).
