The Vietnam Volleyball Federation held a draw for the 2009 National Volleyball Championships on Feb. 21.

Twelve qualified men’s and women’s teams are divided into two groups competing in two stages on a round robin basis.

In the first stage from March 21-28, Phu Tho province will be the competition venue for the first group (Group A) teams, while Ha Tinh province will host Group B matches. The second stage will take place from September 5-20, and the top teams will compete in the finals for the Mikasa Cup from September 17-20.

Meanwhile, after finishing the qualifying rounds, the two group winners will compete for the Hung Vuong Cup in Viet Tri city in the northern province of Phu Tho from April 2-5. Cup winners will be awarded VND30 million, while the first and second runners-up will receive VND20 million and VND10 million each.

The same day, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation also signed a contract to sell broadcast rights to the Vietnam Digital Television Corporation (VTC).
