Sponsors have reaffirmed their commitment to golf events in Macau, Taiwan and Vietnam despite the tough economic climate, the Asian Tour said Friday.

The news means the Macau Open, Mercuries Taiwan Masters and Hana Bank Vietnam Masters will go ahead as planned.

Asian Tour Executive Chairman Kyi Hla Han said the Macau Open will be staged from September 17-20 while the Taiwan Masters, another long-standing event, will be held from October 1-4.

The Vietnam Masters, inaugurated in 2007, is slated from November 19-22. The three events will offer 500,000 dollars each in prize money.

“I am pleased to announce that the Macau Open, Mercuries Taiwan Masters and Hana Bank Vietnam Masters will feature prominently on Asian Tour schedule during the second half of our season,” said Han.

“In view of the present economic climate, we are delighted that our sponsors have maintained their commitment towards professional golf across Asia and our players value their support.”

Venues for the Macau Open and Vietnam Masters will be announced in due course while the Taiwan Golf and Country Club will once again host the Taiwan Masters.
