Cong Vinh’s second-half goal earned T & T Hanoi a victory over Da Nang while Dong Thap defeated defending champions Binh Duong 1-0 to top the V-League.

At the Hang Day stadium, hosts T & T Hanoi started the game against Da Nang with a clear chance to score when Cong Vinh’s shot hit the left post in the 4th minute. Then it was Da Nang’s turn to produce attacks. But Quoc Anh’s shots in the 9th 10th and 11th minutes were saved by goalkeeper Hong Son, the most valuable player of the AFF Cup 2008.In the first half, Cong Vinh had two chances to open the scoring, but his header in the 22nd minute and his strike two minutes later were over the crossbar.

Five minutes into the second half, Cong Vinh scored the opener for T & T Hanoi. His wonderful hearder from Vadiney’s free kick helped T & T come up.

After the goal, Da Nang tried to come back from behind, creating several clear chances to level the score but could not convert any of them into goal. Raphael’s header in the 65th minute was over the crossbar, Quang Tuan’s shot was wide of the right post before Ameida’s fire was saved by keeper Hong Son in the 85th minute. Da Nang’s efforts did not pay off and they conceded a 1-0 loss to T & T.

In the second round of the V-League, Dong Thap made another surprise when beating defending champions Binh Duong 1-0 and Hai Phong came from behind to thrash The Cong 2-1 at the Lach Tray stadium. Song Lam Nghe An were held by Khanh Hoa 0-0. Meanwhile Nam Dinh won Thanh Hoa 1-0, Ho Chi Minh City Club beat Hoang Anh Gia Lai 1-0 and Dong Tam Long An thumped Military Zone 4 2-0. As a result, Dong Thap top the V-League with two wins.
