A martial arts exchange between Vietnam and Romania to commemorate the 79th establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 59th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (March 3) was held in Romania.

The event was organised by Vietnamese Embassy in Romania in coordination with the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association and the Romanian Martial Arts Federation.

Present at the meeting were Vietnamese overseas in Romania and staff of Vietnamese Embassy in the country.

In particular, the event drew the participation of Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF), Nguyen Van Chieu, and Vice Chairman of the Romanian Martial Arts Federation, Florin Macovei, who have visited Vietnam 15 times to do research on Vovinam.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese ambassador to Romania, Nguyen Quang Chien, emphasised the significance of the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence and unification as well as in the current process of national construction and development.

He wished the Vietnamese overseas community in Romania would continue to develop a spirit of solidarity and contribute to promoting Vietnam’s culture to the world.

Participants in the event had the opportunity to see martial arts demonstrations by artists from the Vovinam club in Iasi city, Romania, some of whom had previously taken part in several competitions in Vietnam, achieved notable success.
