Half-back Hoang Dam.

- V. Ninh Binh club’s half-back Hoang Dam was fined VND10 million and suspended for five matches. His club was fined VND15 million for failing to prevent its fans from throwing bottles and things onto the field and offending referees in the match against Hoa Phat Hanoi.

- Military Zone 4 club’s Phan Thanh Van was fined VND5 million and suspended for two matches for opposing referees after the match between his team and Dong Tam Long An.

- The Asia Vision program will provide $20,000 to the Long An Football Development Fund in 2009. Long An province is the first location in Vietnam that has been chosen for the Asia Vision – Vietnam Vision program.

- HCM City’s female football team will be trained in Thailand from February 26 to March 10 to prepare for the National Women’s Football Championship.

- The fan club of Binh Duong team sent its petition to the organizing board of the V-League 2009 tournament complaining about the organization of the match between Binh Duong and Dong Thap on February 15.

- Vietnam’s FPT Group has proposed to cancel the annual FPT International Grand Master Chess Tournament due to the economic crisis.

On May 5, 2008, FPT and the Vietnam Chess Federation (VCF) signed an agreement, under which the two sides will combine to organize the annual FPT International Grand Master Chess Tournament, with the participation of international Grand Masters.

VCF is responsible for registering the event with the International Chess Confederation to turn it into an official event. The first tournament was scheduled in September 2008 but it failed. FPT announced the cancellation of it again.

- The First Division Chess Tournament is underway in Hanoi until February 28. The event has the participation of International Grand Master Dao Thien Hai, who recently left Dong Thap to join Military team. Nguyen Van Huy, the national champion 2008 left Bac Ninh to play for Hanoi.

The Tournament is divided into two stages. In the first stage, players compete in nine matches under the Swiss system. In the second stage, they play in one-one form to race for the 1-20 positions.
