Female pole-vaulter Tran Thi Lan has won a scholarship from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) to study at the IAAF’s Young Athlete Training Centre in Malaysia.

The Director of the IAAF Young Athlete Training Centre, Mohd Musa Bin Noor, recently met with officials of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training. At the meeting, he applauded Vietnam’s recent achievements and the improvement of Vietnam’s athletics.

He also approved a full scholarship for Vietnamese pole-jumper Tran Thi Lan, 21, to study at the IAAF Young Athlete Training Centre.

Lan currently can vault the 3.6m transverse beam. It is hoped that after the course, she can reach the height of over 4m.

The IAAF Young Athlete Training Centre is one of the top sportsman training units in the world; the centre gathers experts and coaches from Russia, Cuba and others.

Lan will go to Malaysia on February 15. She will also have a chance to take part in a 30-day course in Europe.
