Mr. Jose Luis
With only one win in seven matches at the V-League 2009, on March 31, Dong Tam Long An club’s chairman Vo Quang Thang appointed Portuguese expert, Jose Luis, as technical director to assist young coach Cong Minh.

This position was assumed by the current chief coach of the national squad, Henrique Calisto, and it was empty after Calisto joined the national team in mid-2008.

With his experience at the Cup C1, UEFA Cup, and when he was a member of the Portuguese national team playing at some Euro and World Cup events, Jose Luis is expected to positively assist Cong Minh to take Dong Tam Long An out of difficulties.

After seven matches at the V-League, Dong Tam gained only eight points, ranking at the 8th position.

Previously, the chief coach was Huynh Ngoc San but the former technical director, Calisto, was the most important person who decided all technical issues and lead Dong Tam Long An to success. It will repeat with Cong Minh and Jose Luis.

Jose Luis worked with many reputed coaches like Sven Goran Eriksson, Paulo Autiori, Tomislav Ivic, and Jose Mourinho, who discovered football talents like Petit, Fernandes, and Rui Nereu.

Jose Luis played for Benfica from 1975-1989 and for the Portuguese national team in 35 matches, including the Euro 1984 and 1986 World Cup.

As a coach, he led AD Ovarense, Esposende FC, Operario Acores, FC Lousada, U16 Benfica in Portugal, the U19 team of the Lisboa Football Federation, the East Timor national team at Tiger Cup 2004, Sabah (Malaysia), and Nam Hoa, the champion of Hong Kong 2007-2008 and Cup Hong Kong 2007-2008.
