Duong Hong Son wins the men’s Golden Ball, while striker Ngoc Cham (Hanoi) takes the women’s Golden Ball 2008 title, according to Tien Phong Newspaper. The news will be officially announced tonight in HCM City.

On March 3, the organizing board of the Golden Ball 2008 Awards declared the shortlist of nominees for this title. On the men’s list were the names of Vu Phong, Duong Hong Son, Vu Nhu Thanh and Le Cong Vinh. Finally, Duong Hong Son is the winner.

The Silver Ball title goes to Nhu Thanh (Binh Duong Club) and the Bronze Ball title to striker Le Cong Vinh (T&T Hanoi).

In the women’s selection, Do Ngoc Cham (Hanoi team) earned the highest vote to receive the Golden Ball 2008 Award. The Silver and Bronze Ball titles go to Dao Thi Mien (Hoa Hop Hanoi) and Kim Hong (HCM City).

Duong Hong Son is the second goalkeeper after Vo Van Hanh (2001) who earned this title in the 14-year history of this selection.

Last year, Hong Son played very well at his local club and at the national team. He was voted as the best player at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008.

The Golden Bal Awards, organized by Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, honors outstanding footballers of Vietnam.
