The National Marathon held by Tien Phong Newspaper will take place on March 22 in the coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province.

For the first time in its 50-year history, the tournament will include a half-marathon (21km), with over 40 runners registered so far.

Total prize money is nearly VND120 million, including around VND50 million for half-marathon runners. This tournament boasts the highest amount of prize money among track-and-field events in Vietnam.

HCM City registered Truong Thanh Hang for the women’s 5km run, but Hang, the champion of this category for five consecutive years (2004-2008), said she would not participate in this tournament because she hadn’t joined a team since saying goodbye to HCM City.
