Vissai Ninh Binh changes coach

This club on March 12 decided to replace chief coach Doan Minh Xuong with his assistant Nguyen Van Sy.

The club’s managing director Tran Tien Dai said Xuong is no longer the team’s chief coach but he is not dismissed. Xuong will become technical advisor. His former assistant, Nguyen Van Sy, will temporarily be the coach at the upcoming match against the Hue city club on March 14.

Dai said the club changed its chief coach because Xuong didn’t fulfill the set goal of gaining 12-13 points after the five first matches at the First Division Tournament 2009.

Austdoor sponsors women’s football tournament

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on March 12 announced the exclusive sponsor of the National Women’s Football Championship 2009.

The tournament will open on March 24, with the participation of six teams, namely Hanoi, Hoa Hop Hanoi, HCM City, Phong Phu Ha Nam, Thai Nguyen, and Vietnam Coal and Mineral.

VFF will provide VND 260 million for six participating teams: VND 50 million for Ha Nam and Thai Nguyen each and VND 40 million for the remaining teams.

Dong Luc Badminton Cup to open next week

The Dong Luc-funded Badminton Championship will take place from March 17 to 21 at the Phan Dinh Phung Sports House in HCM City.

According to the organizing board, 80 players from 10 teams will join the event, which has a total bonus of VND 120 million.

However, the tournament will not have two leading players of HCM City, Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung and Quang Minh, and one from Hanoi, Duong Phuong Nam.

Players will compete in five categories: men’s single, women’s single, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
