Leading Chinese-chess master to receive Labour Order; Viet Nam football team given car following cup final victory; Czech-Vietnamese player makes V-League debut in Hai Phong

Chinese-chess player Ngo Lan Huong will be honoured with the Labour Order, Third Class, for her great contributions to the World Championship and Asian Indoor Games in 2007.

Huong won a gold medal at the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau, China in 2007 before taking silver medals in both the World Championship and the Asian Championship.

The chess master will be a key team member for Viet Nam in the 3rd Indoor Games scheduled for play in Viet Nam this October.

Viet Nam football team given car following cup final victory

The Viet Nam football team received a seven-seat Suzuki car from the sponsor of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup on Monday.

The AFF champions won the prize last December after beating Thailand 3-2 in an aggregated two-leg Cup final.

According to Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF)’s spokesman Nguyen Lan Trung, the vehicle will be put up for sale in order to present cash prizes to national team members.

Each member of the Viet Nam football team may receive up to VND600 million (US$35,000) in cash prizes from the VFF and other sponsors.

As soon as the team won the AFF Cup, the VFF announced a VND4 billion ($24,000) prize for the team, an addition to the $100,000 prize from the AFF Cup.

VFF also announced the team received a total of VND11 billion ($647,000) in prize money after winning the AFF Cup.

Czech-Vietnamese player makes V-League debut in Hai Phong

Hai Phong Cement debuted Dang Van Robert, its newly contracted Czech-Vietnamese player, in the sixth week of the V-League season last Sunday.

The 24-year-old, whose father is Vietnamese, is the fifth footballer to be granted Vietnamese citizenship in the V-League.

Previously, four V-league footballers including Brazilian-born Fabios Dos Santos of Dong Tam Long An, Keyley Alves of Becamex Binh Duong, and Gia Lai’s Thai Nirut Surasiang and Sakda Joemdee were all granted Vietnamese citizenship.

V-League leader SHB Da Nang also plan to grant Vietnamese citizenship to 29-year-old Brazilian mid-fielder Rogierio.
