LookAtVietnam – The Cong overtook defending national champion Binh Duong 3-1 in a dramatic V-League match at Hang Day Stadium yesterday.

The match attracted a large number of fans with trumpets and drums, creating an animated and bustling atmosphere.

In the first minutes of the match both sides created many chances to score but no success.

In the 29th minute, The Cong was likely to open the score but the visitor’s goalkeeper The Anh flew his body in the way to save the goal.

Nista had another chance for the host in the 39th minute but came up short on the shot.

Finally, taking full advantage of an error by goalie The Anh, half-back Ngoc Duy was right on target, driving the host to lead 1-0 in the 52nd minute.

The visitor tried to benefit from a penalty in the 64th minute but goalie Manh Dung of The Cong made a triumphant save.

Huynh Kesley made a spectacular goal in the 68th minute with a speedy play along the right wing to even the score.

Several minutes later, the Hang Day Stadium seemed to be blown up when Xuan Thanh received an advantageous pass from team-mate Nista to score the second goal for The Cong.

Binh Duong had another chance to score but was denied when the ball hit the bar. In the last minute of the match, striker Endene scored a third goal for the host, securing victory.

At Lach Tray Stadium, Hai Phong was defeated by Nam Dinh, Nam Dinh players put Hai Phong fans back in their seats in the last minutes of the match by scoring two goals in a row for the win.

Elsewhere in V-League play yesterday, Thanh Hoa tied with Song Lam Nghe An 2-2 at Thanh Hoa Stadium; two-time champion Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) beat Da Nang 1-0 at Pleiku Stadium.

Week three of the season also saw Military Zone 4 beat Dong Thap 1-0 at Military Zone 4 Stadium, Khanh Hoa won HCM City 3-1 and T&T Ha Noi drew with Dong Tam Long An 2-2.

Dong Thap and Nam Dinh currently lead the ranking table with six points. Candidates for the title HAGL and HCM City rank at the bottom of the table with three points.
