HCM City’s aerobics gymnastics team will represent Vietnam at the 1st Asian Aerobics Championships in Bangkok, Thailand from March 25-30.

The team comprises Le Vu Phuong Dung, Le Thi Bich Thy, Nguyen Huynh Nhu, and Danyi Vilmos, who will compete in the women’s singles, three-member group of 12-14 years old, and men’s singles of 15-17 years old categories.

These are also members of the national gymnastics team who have practiced aerobics for 4-5 years and won medals at national young gymnastics tournaments. This will be their first international contest.

The team’s coaches say all of the gymnasts are in good health and ready to take part in the competition in Thailand.

Notably, Danyi Vimos, 17, is a Vietnamese-Hungarian who has just joined the Vietnamese sport aerobics team. Vimos was born and grew up in her father’s country, Hungary. She moved to Vietnam at the age of 9. Since then she has practiced gymnastics in HCM City.

After seven years of hard work, she was recently called up to the national squad to participate in the 1st Asian Aerobics Championships.

Coach Tran Viet Hoang, who has worked with Vimos for a long time, applauds her talent and her dominance over young Vietnamese gymnasts.

Vimos is also a hope of Vietnam at the 3rd Asian Indoor Games 2009 in Vietnam this October.
