Viet Nam will have their work cut out against defending champions North Korea in the opening match of the Asian Football Confederation finals.

The under-19 Women’s Championship Group A finals opener on August 1will be followed by another tough Group A opponent, South Korea, three days later and then Thailand.

Surviving to the semi-finals will be difficult for Viet Nam but chief coach Tran Ngoc Thai Tuan said the tournament was an opportunity to gain experience.

The players start training on June 7 which will include four friendly matches in China.

In the qualifying round in November last year, Viet Nam won four of its five games. They were wins against Singapore (12-0), the Philippines (11-0), Jordan (6-0) and Myanmar (4-0), and a loss to South Korea (0-6).
