| National football team coach Henrique Calisto Tuesday announced the list of 23 players who will get together for the first time this year on May 10. |
| The team will prepare for a friendly match with Greeceâs Olympiakos club four days later at Hanoiâs My Dinh Stadium. Calisto said he didnât choose the Best Player of the ASEAN Football Confederation Cup 2008 and Golden Ball winner Duong Hong Son, because he wanted to give opportunities to new faces, not because Son hasnât played well recently. In related news, Iran Tuesday sent a letter to Thanh Nien and the Vietnam Football Federation confirming they would compete in the Thanh Nien-sponsored International U21 Football Tournament this year to defend their title and prepare for next yearâs Asian U20 Football Championship.
