The top three young footballer who were selected for a one-month training course in Qatar pose with Vietnam national team coach Henrique Calisto

Qatar’s Aspire Academy will set up a training center for promising young Vietnamese footballers in Ho Chi Minh City, project manager Joseph Colomer said Thursday.

It’s called the Football Dreams Project and will start out with the academy renting a section of Thanh Long Sports Complex to train 50 young players.

The nationwide hunt for the footballers of tomorrow will take place next month.

The Qatari football academy hopes to have its own place in the city next year where boys can mature into professional players without paying a cent.

Like last year, the best three of the 50 chosen boys will be taken to Qatar for four weeks of trials and testing.

They will live at the academy and receive the full benefits and oppor-tunities available to any Aspire student.

If the chosen three fail to live up to Aspire’s expectations, they will be sent back to train at the new center in HCMC.
