A sports competition for the disabled with the theme “Solidarity – Integration – Equality – Humanity” will be held in central Quang Tri province from May 10-15, announced the General Department of Sports on April 22.

The competition is expected to attract between 500-700 athletes, coaches and officials from 35-40 teams nationwide and the best athletes will be selected to represent Vietnam in the 5th ASEAN Paragames in Malaysia and the 10th Asian Paragames in Guangzhou in 2010.

This is the twelfth time Vietnam has held the tournament of the kind to help athletes and their teams share experiences with each other and strengthen solidarity between them.

The competition will include athletics, swimming, table-tennis, badminton, weight-lifting, chess and tennis. The individual events will be held according to the rules set by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF).
