South Korean cyclists leave the field gasping in their wake

Seoul team cyclist Cho Ho Sung repeated his second-stage performance by winning the third stage of the HCMC Television Cycling Cup 2009 Friday.

Sung clocked the 98-km distance from Phan Rang in Ninh Thuan Province to Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province in two hours, 17 minutes and 17 seconds at an average speed of 42.831 kph.

Ochirbaatar of Mongolia came in second, followed by Le Van Duan of the Saigon 1 team in third place.

Sung’s teammate Yoo Ki Hong continues to wear the yellow jersey with a total time of nine hours, 49 minutes and 13 seconds from three stages.

Do Tuan Anh of Domesco Dong Thap made a good start Friday and lead for most of the way before fading fast in the final stretch. At one point he was three minutes ahead of the yellow jersey.

Seoul continues to lead the team category with a total time of 29 hours, 29 minutes and 26 seconds, 58 seconds less than second-placed Dong Thap.

Stage four of the nine-stage, thousand-kilometer race is a 25- kilometer sprint along the streets of Nha Trang today starting on Tran Phu Street.
