Ha Noi’s Hang Day Stadium’s competition board will be fined VND20 million (US$1,100) following bad behaviour from Ha Noi ACB’s fans at the National Vissai Cement Cup match last Sunday, said Viet Nam Football Federation’s Discipline Department.

The Ha Noi ACB team was beaten 2-1 by The Cong in a quarter-final on Sunday.

Disgruntled fans engaged in misconduct against players and supporters of The Cong.

One act from ACB team fans was to throw two dog’s heads on to the pitch during the game to sneer at The Cong’s side.

The Discipline Department has ruled Ha Noi ACB will have to play at their home stadium without the support of any fans against Ando An Giang on April 17.

Photos keep eye on the ball

The “Soccergraphy” competition is inviting amateur and professional photographers worldwide to submit their unique football photos.

The contest is being held by Sony Electronics Asia Pacific, which is an official partner of FIFA for the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa.

Each entry submitted must include the image of a football in it, with entries to be received through October.

The grand prize is a trip to South Africa to attend the World Cup, with amateur and professional winners each to receive cameras.

The winning photos will also be published in a special album by National Geographic, together with photos by world-famous photographers like Steve McCurry and Mike Yamashita.

Proceeds from the sales of the album will be donated to charity.

For more information about the contest visit Sony’s website at www.sony-asia.com/soccergraphy.

500 athletes to receive tests

All gold medal winners at the third Asian Indoor Games in Viet Nam will have to undergo dope tests, the games organising committee said.

It is also expected that a random sampling of 500 athletes will be tested at the games.

Athletes will have to give urine samples, which will be sent to China for testing, as Viet Nam does not have adequate facilities for testing.

The Games are expected to attract more than 4,000 athletes, coaches and officials from 45 countries and territories for competition in 20 official sports.
