Binh Duong has become the second Vietnamese team to make the second round of the AFC Cup after trouncing Singapore’s Home United at Go Dau Stadium, Binh Duong province on May 5.

Duc Thien and Kesley (red), who scored two goals for Bnh Duong in the match against Singapore’s Home United on May 5.

Binh Duong surpassed Singaporean and Thai teams to be the first team of Group H to enter the second round (16 teams in total) of the Asian Football Cup (AFC Cup) or C2 Cup.

After the first losing match against Home United in Singapore, Binh Duong had two consecutive victories against Valencia Club of the Maldives and Thailand Power Club (Thailand).

Thanks to the 2-0 triumph yesterday, Binh Duong will enter the second round, no matter the results of the final matches.

“I am satisfied with the match today. If we continue to face Southeast Asian teams in the second round, we will have opportunities to stay in the tournament,” said coach Minh Dung, who has just replaced F. Vital as the coach of Binh Duong.

The two goals of Binh Duong were made by Kesley, who was recently naturalised into Vietnamese and Duc Thien.

Home United and Thailand Power will compete for the second ticket to the second round.
