Le Thi Dung from Hanoi set a new record
in the women’s freestyle swimming.

With 196 golds, 100 silvers and 42 bronzes, the Ho Chi Minh City team topped at the National Sports Competition for the Disabled 2009 which concluded in Quang Tri on Saturday.

The Hanoi team stood second with 86 golds, 49 silvers and 26 bronzes, followed by the host Quang Tri with 69 golds, 52 silvers and 31 bronzes.

The tournament this year with the participation of 589 athletes and 80 coaches from 24 teams, competing in seven sports saw quite a few new national and regional records.

In the women’s weightlifting, 52 kg class, Dinh Thi Nga from Hanoi successfully lifted 96 kg, surpassing the Paragame IV’s record 0,5 kg. In the men’s weightlifting, 60 kg class, Le Van Cong from Ho Chi Minh City set a new record with the total lift of 160 kg.

In the women’s freestyle swimming event, with the time of 6’35’’, Le Thi Dung from Quang Tri also broke the Paragame IV’s record of 8’41’’05.
