The “To Dien Bien Phu 2009” Cycling Race from Hanoi to Dien Bien Phu Town in Dien Bien Province ended Wednesday with Mongolian cyclists winning most of the titles.

After being beaten by the Seoul squad at the HCMC Television Cycling Cup 2009 that ended on April 30 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese cyclists were defeated at home again by a Mongolian team that is not ranked higher than them.

Ochirbatar won the yellow jersey after completing the race in the shortest time with a total of 12 hours, 46 minutes and 31 seconds. His compatriot Khangarid Naran and Trinh Phat Dat of the local An Giang team came in second and third respectively.

Khangarid also won the red jersey title for the best hill climber of the tournament with a total 66 points, 14 points clear of second-placed Dat.

Mai Nguyen Hung of the Saigon 1 squad won the 80 km final stage of the tour from Tuan Giao to Dien Bien Phu in two hours, two minutes and 30 seconds, at an average speed of 39.111 kph. Hung also won the blue jersey.

The Mongolian squad won the team category with a total 38 hours, 23 minutes and 16 seconds, beating second placed Domesco Dong Thap by six minutes and eight seconds.
