LookAtVietnam – Two V-League coaches were replaced on Monday following poor performances by their teams during 11 rounds of the national football premier league.

Coach Vuong Tien Dung.
Mikado Nam Dinh’s Nguyen Ngoc Hao resigned unexpectedly while The Cong fired Vuong Tien Dung.

Hao’s resignation was accepted immediately. “Club leaders did not put any pressure on him. It was his decision,” said team president Nguyen Hung Thai.

“There are reasons for our losses. The worst thing is our local players have injuries and suspension problems while the foreigners played poorly.

“All of us have tried our best but the situation has not improved. We are in difficulty but we understand and hope to overcome the troubles,” Thai said.

Hao, who has been appointed the club’s technical director, guided the team to second in the league in 2004 before he moved to Khatoco Khanh Hoa.

When he accepted an invitation to return to Nam Dinh last year he was expected to lift the team.

Nguyen The Cuong, Hao’s assistant will lead the team which has a solitary point from six recent games and is last on the table with 11 points.

“I will continue with what Hao is doing while encouraging my players,” said Cuong. “I see challenges. The other matches are all finals. I am ready to face them and with support from players we can do it.”

The Cong’s humiliating 0-3 loss to Military Zone 4 on Sunday was the last straw for team leaders who fired Dung after a meeting on Monday night.

The team’s fourth consecutive loss and sixth during the 11 rounds has it one place above Nam Dinh on the table.

The dream of taking the league was virtually gone. Its leaders were patient but had to act and Dung was fired, the team said.

Dung most successful

Dung, The Cong’s most successful coach in a decade, guided the team to the league title in 1998. He left in 2000 but returned eight years later.

The team said yesterday that coach Le Thuy Hai, will replace him. Hai has worked with the team for several months and recently visited Brazil where he said recruited some high quality players who will be better than those playing in Viet Nam.

Last week, Becamex Binh Duong said it had replaced chief Portuguese coach Francisco Vital with his assistant, Nguyen Minh Dung.

The club’s leader, Tran Van Duong, said Vital would be assigned a new job. On a two-year contract, Vital was the top team’s chief coach and training assistant of its younger side.

Binh Duong also appointed players Tran Truong Giang and Truong Van Hai as assistants to the new coach who enjoyed a first-up 3-1 victory over Thanh Hoa last Saturday.

Vital is the third foreign coach to lose a V-League post this season. Thai Dusit Chanlermsan (Hoang Anh Gia Lai) and Austrian Alfred Riedl (Hai Phong) lost their posts following poor team performances.
