Hosts Binh Duong defeat Thanh Hoa 3-1; Hanoi edge Thai Nguyen 1-0; Do Tuan Anh tops the final stage

Defending champions Binh Duong crushed Thanh Hoa 3-1 in an early match of the V-League PetroVietnam Gas 2009 at their home stadium yesterday.

Binh Duong’s three goals were scored by Helio in the 21st minute, Nguyen Vu Phong in the 60th minute and Nguyen Anh Đuc in the 64th minute. Rogelio earned a consolation goal for the guests in the last minute of the match.

This win helped Binh Duong gain more confidence before taking on Singapore’s Home United at the AFC Cup 2009 on May 5.

Hanoi edge Thai Nguyen 1-0

Hanoi edged Thai Nguyen 1-0 in the second match of round 9 of the National Women’s Football Championship 2009 at Ha Dong stadium yesterday.

The sole goal by Tu Thi Phu in the 15th minute helped the defending champions come back to top the table.

Meanwhile, their direct rivals in the race to the championship title - Vietnam Coal and Minerals and Hoa Hop Hanoi will meet in the last match of round 9 today. If Vietnam Coal and Minerals could not take three points in this match, then only one victory over Hanoi in the last round would take them to the highest position of the tournament.

Do Tuan Anh tops the final stage

Do Tuan Anh from the Domesco Dong Thap team finished first at the final stage of the 21^st Ho Chi Minh City Television Cycling Tourney 2009 which ended in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

He also snatched the green jersey with 69 points, followed by Le Van Duan from the Saigon Plant Protection team with 41 points.

Gong Hyp-suk from the Republic of Korea bagged the yellow jersey with the total time of 23h5’41’’.

The RoK’s team also occupied the first place of the table with the total time of 68h10’4’’, followed by the Saigon Plant Protection team and the An Giang Plant Protection team.

Right after the tournament, most of the cyclists and referees will head to Hanoi to participate in another cycling race, entitled ’Back to Dien Bien Phu 2009 - the People’s Army Newspaper Cup’ which will be held from May 2- 6.
