LookAtVietnam – Viet Nam’s Truong Thanh Hang grabbed her third silver medal at the Asian Athletics Association’s Grand Prix Series in Hong Kong on Saturday, as she finished her second of three legs.

Silver queen: Viet Nam’s Truong Thanh Hang grabbed her third silver medal in Hong Kong.

Hang clocked in two minutes and 3.88 seconds in the women’s 800m third leg at Wanchai Stadium in Hong Kong, just behind Margarita Matsko from Kazakhstan, who finished first in 2:02.93.

Earlier on Wednesday, the former Asian champion Hang bagged two silvers in the women’s 800m in the first leg in mainland China with a time of 2:4.15.

In the second leg in China on Monday, the HCM City-born athlete finished in 2:3.28 to win the silver medal.

At the event last year, Hang bagged three gold medals.

The 24-year-old sprinter will take a cash-prize of US$2,400 from the organising committee for her clutch of the three silver medals.

It’s a good result for the HCM City athlete, as she has sustained her form after hard training at home.

“I believe that Hang will improve her results at the next Asian Championship. She has kept her best personal time at the race since last year. However, we’ll plan to help her with special training before the next Asian championship,” said national team coach Ho Thi Tu Tam.

As scheduled, Hang will race at the Asian Athletics Championship in Guangzhou, China in November before competing at the Asian Indoor Games in Viet Nam and the Southeast Asian Games in Laos this December.
