The tournament will see the participation of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and the host Japan as part of activities to mark the Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009.

Vietnam is scheduled to play against Japan and Lao on June 3, Thailand on June 4 and Cambodia on June 5.

After the event, players from Vietnam and other five countries will make a tour of Tokyo, watch a Yamazaki Nabisco Cup match, pay a courtesy visit to leaders of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and join a cultural exchange with Japanese players.

The tournament is held within the framework of an exchange programme between East Asian youths in the 21^st century initiated by former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to promote mutual understanding and friendship between future generations of Southeast Asian and East Asian countries.
