Viet Nam win bronzes at Asian Champs

LookAtVietnam – Vietnamese wrestlers took two bronze medals at the Asian Wrestling Championship in Thailand on Monday.

The medals went to Nguyen Thi Lua and Luong Thi Quyen in the women’s category of 48kg and 63kg, respectively.

Eleven women wrestlers from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, South Korea, China, Japan, India and Viet Nam to compete in the women’s 48kg division.

Lua beat Thailand’s Surattikan Jampra in the qualifying round, but she lost to Kzakhstan’s Ishimova Zhuldyz in the semi-final.

Lua faced Murmatova Mikhmiso in a repechage match and went on attack to win 6-4. She earned a bronze medal.

The second bronze went to defending champion of Southeast Asian Games, Quyen.

After overcoming Chinese Taipei’s Hou Yi-fang 5-1 in the qualifying round, Quyen met world champion Nishimaki Mio of Japan.

She wasn’t anxious and scored four points in the first half. But this didn’t help her win the world champion and she went down 4-12.

Quyen, who won a gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games, beat India’s Kundu Suman 4-1 in the repechage match to grab the bronze.

In the other match of the women’s 51kg division, Vietnamese martial artist Pham Thi Hue city lost to Kim Hyung-joo of South Korea 4-8.
