Two Bulgarian international volleyball players are expected to try out at Vietnam’s Fifth Military Zone tomorrow, the Vietnamese club said.

If selected, they will play in the 2009 National Topflight Volleyball Championship in mid-July.

Bulgarian national team player from 2001-2004, Tsvetan Rumenov, 29, stands at 2.03 meters and weighs 98 kilos.

Rumenov has played in several international clubs and was playing for Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia who agreed to let him try out for the Vietnamese club.

His 2 meter tall compatriot Vasil Michkov Stoyanov, 30, was captain of Bulgaria’s national volleyball team in 2003 and 2004 and was playing for Italian club Catania before he came to Vietnam.

Five other Bulgarians, four men and a woman, also come with them to try out at volleyball clubs – The Cong, Sao Vang Bien Phong, the Fourth Military Corps, the Ninth Military Zone and the women’s volleyball club Phu Rieng Rubber.

If the Bulgarians are accepted, the Fifth Military Zone will be Vietnam’s first volleyball club to employ European players.
