After the friendly match between Vietnam and Kuwait in Kuwait on May 31, a FIFA-accredited broker met with Vietnamese striker Viet Thang.

Viet Thang is one of the best strikers in Vietnam.

Thang was not the scorer and perhaps not the best player in that match but he drew the attention of Western Asian football experts. After the match, a broker met with Thang to talk about possibly joining the Iranian national team in the near future.

“He came forward and told me that he liked strikers like Viet Thang. He is a professional broker in Western Asia. His top market is Iran,” said the Vietnamese national team’s translator Ngo Le Bang, who assisted Thang in the talk.

“He affirmed that Thang can play football in Iran if related sides reach an agreement. He asked me to summarise statistics about Thang, make a file and send it to him. And I promised to help him,” Bang said.

In the match in Kuwait, Thang did a good job in getting the ball to other strikers. He assisted on the only goal of Vietnam.

On his local club – Dong Tam Long An – he assisted on seven of the ten goals of the team in V-League 2009. With the national squad, Thang is praised for his team spirit. He was a member of the team that won the AFF Cup 2008.

At this moment, Viet Thang hasn’t extended his contract with Dong Tam Long An, which will expire at the end of this year’s football season.

Before Viet Thang, some Vietnamese players like Cong Vinh, Huynh Duc, Bao Khanh and Hong Son were invited by foreign clubs. Huynh Duc played for Lifan club in China-League.
