Driving: A strong field will contest Viet Nam’s premier amateur golf tournament, the annual Mercedes-Benz Viet Nam on June 27 at the Ocean Dunes Golf Club in Phan Thiet.

Seven berths for August’s Asian final in Australia are up for grabs among the best 144 golfers from clubs nationwide out of an original 2,500 competitors.

The Mercedes-Benz tournament is Viet Nam’s largest golf competition, with qualifying rounds at the club and country levels which lead up to international events at the regional and world levels.

The World Final will be held in Stuttgart, Germany this September.

A worldwide amateur golf tournament, which began in Germany in 1989, draws more than 57,000 players each year from 50 countries.

This will be the event’s seventh edition in Viet Nam.

The Ocean Dunes Golf Club in Phan Thiet city, 160km east of HCM City, lies on the beach and is one of the most beautiful golf courses in Viet Nam.

It’s 18 holes will challenge golfers in their quest for big prizes.

Mercedes-Benz is offering prizes for seven winners, six men and a woman, said the organising committee.

Last year, Ha Noi’s Van Tri Golf Club hosted the Mercedes-Benz Tour with participation from some of the ASEAN region’s most famous golfers, including Malaysia’s top golfer, Danny Chia, the talented Thai duo of Wisut Artjanawat and Pariya Junhasavasdikul, and Felix Casas from the Philippines.
