V-League defending champs Becamex Binh Duong defeated Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) 2-1 at Pleiku Stadium Wednesday to advance to the National Football Cup semifinals.

Binh Duong had got its equalizer just a minute later as HAGL’s defender Doan Viet Cuong scored an own goal.

Binh Duong lifted its game after the equalizer and its number one midfielder Vu Phong scored the winner halfway through the first half after combining very well with striker Anh Duc.

HAGL attacked fiercely until the final minutes, but Binh Duong stood firm until the final whistle.

Binh Duong will play Da Nang on the latter’s home turf, the Chi Lang Stadium, on July 29 for a place in the final. In the other semifinal on the same day, The Cong will take on Song Lam Nghe An at Hang Day Stadium.
